Rhode Island's new tall ship

The hull of the Oliver Hazard Perry was towed from Newport to the Port of Providence on Wednesday to undergo a “shave and a haircut,” the second phase of construction on what will eventually become the state’s next Tall Ship.

When it’s finished, the Oliver Hazard Perry will be a three-masted, square-rigged warship with ties to Rhode Island’s famous naval war hero of the same name. The nonprofit organization, Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island, based in Newport, bought the hull from Canada and is raising funds to turn it into replica of a 19th-century warship.

From the Providence Journal.

Interesting, but I wish that they had included some information about how a US man of war got reduced to a hull and ended up in Canada.
