One wonders how many World War I veterans remain. We recently lost our oldest, but recall that there remained one or two living Americans of the War to End All Wars. I recall that some very large number of American veterans of World War II are lost every day. How quickly we lose sight of the meaning of their service and the struggles in which they served is a sad testimony of our own time. How quickly will we forget the heros of the present wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, these heroic men and women, most not yet 25 years old.
