Scooby-Doo orphaned

From the BBC:

Joseph Barbera, one half of the team behind such cartoon classics as The Flintstones, Yogi Bear, Scooby-Doo and Huckleberry Hound, has died, aged 95. . .

With William Hanna, Barbera founded Hanna-Barbera in the 1950s, after the pair had earlier worked on the Tom and Jerry cartoons at MGM studios.

Hanna died in 2001. My kids have been keenly watching the old Scooby-Doo TV show on DVD this last week or so. Not having seen it since it was first on, I was impressed at how crude the animation (not to mention the story line) was.

Crude animation? yes...usually drawn by hand. Crude story line? yes, aimed at the pre-middle school set, and originating in Tom and Jerry's (better drawn) world...how spoiled we've become by computer animation and "adult" cartoons and anime...

For me, it still beats most of the garbage now on Saturday mornings...enviro-nazi propaganda and multi-culti, "we're all special so it's okay to fool around" garbage. Bring back Rocky and Bulwinkle! Better yet, Crusader Rabbit.
