The Met says uncle

Today's NY Times has an article on the impending return of the Euphronios Krater to Italy, as well as the Morgantina silver hoard.

In fact, this was reported in Newsday back on January 13, though one had to read between the lines (the rather bland statement that the objects would stay at the Met until 2007 was a widely overlooked bombshell). Mea culpa, as well: I never got around to finishing my post at the time.
