The prices for pop memorabilia really are astonishing. A John Lennon suit worn for the cover of Abbey Road album cover just sold for $98,000 on eBay. An upcoming Chrisities auction, http://www.christies.com/promos/nov05/1589/overview.asp, gives the estimate of $60,000 - $80,000 for a medallion that Hendrix wore at Monterey Pop Festival. How much would it cost if you could buy a suit or lapel pin worn by Beethoven when he conducted the first playing of his ninth symphony? About one-tenth of that I would say.
