We may think that we've come a long way, baby, but think again. No longer is it politically correct overtly to lay those expectations on girls, but in fact tacitly, girls are still expected to "choose" the feminine choice. Girls are still raised to be emotional, concerned with their looks (fashion and makeup) and on and on. Just that now we have to pretend it ain't so.

Your blog entry brought back a lot of memories to a woman raised in that era, that mindset.

Don't be too quick to conclude nothing's changed. Not when a mainstream game such as this from the mid-'60s is now uniformly greeted with hoots of disbelief and derision, and not when girls outperform boys by most academic measures (and significantly dominate the college-bound population).
