Old news, once again

It's amazing how often I run across news of the old that isn't news at all. This morning's example is the discovery of the Second Temple Pool of Siloam, widely reported over a year ago. But this week Herschel Shanks' Biblical Archaeological Review issues a press release about it, and suddenly it's front page news all over again.

Incidentally, this is also a fine illustration of how many newspapers will run press releases with an absolute minimum of rewriting and fact-checking.

ADDENDUM: I see that Jim Davila (belated happy birthday!) has spotted this, too.

AND some comprehensive dissection of the state of the story here.
