Fake terracotta warriors

Not just the odd forgery for sale, but whole armies of them, taking over entire museums:

THE touring Terracotta Warriors exhibition opened in the booming port city of Qingdao on Friday … only two weeks and two days after the fake exhibition closed.

“The fake Terracotta Warriors exhibition was held in different places in Qingdao for more than a year,” admitted a senior Qingdao museum representative, who requested anonymity.

“I don’t know if the organiser will be punished by law. If nobody sues, the officials probably won’t do anything.”

This is not the first time, nor probably the last, that a fake Terracotta Warriors exhibition has been held in China. Since the 93,000-mile, 15 million yuan (£1 million) official roadshow kicked off in August 2002, there has been a “non-stop” procession of phoney fighters across the country . . .
