The search for ancient triremes continues

We wrote about the search in the waters around Mt. Athos here and here. Now the search for naval relics of the Persian Wars is expanding, including for the first time Salamis itself. Read about it in the Guardian. Undoubtedly much more to come.

PS Must follow up on this post of a couple years ago -- to wit, how many ancient naval battles took place in fairly shallow waters which have since silted up, enabling excavation to take place on land (soggy though it would be)?
