Christie's vs Thomson: the final round

Common sense triumphs in the end, in a case we first wrote about here. At least the loser pays the bill, according to British practice. Were it only so here in the USA. . . .

One of the world's wealthiest women was facing a massive legal bill last night after Christie's successfully appealed against a High Court ruling that it should pay damages for allegedly deceiving her over the £2 million purchase of a pair of urns. . .

Last year's case was estimated to have cost £1.6 million and the appeal will have pushed the final total to well above the price that she paid for the urns in 1994. Discussions about costs are now taking place but the losers in legal actions normally foot most or all of the legal bill.

From the Telegraph.
