Mandela artwork flap

Former South African President Nelson Mandela is suing two ex-advisers for allegedly selling copies of his art without permission.

Mr Mandela produced a limited edition of sketches and paintings, which were sold to raise money for his charities and to help fight HIV and Aids. The works included paintings by Mr Mandela of Robben Island, where he spent 18 of his 27 years in prison.

From the BBC, which also reports:
Prints and books associated with Nelson Mandela were withdrawn from sale at a London art gallery last week.

The decision was taken amid a legal furore in South Africa over the use of Mr Mandela's signature on artwork and other memorabilia. . .

The Belgravia Gallery in London was one of the outlets that had previously offered for sale items with Mr Mandela's signature.
