Max Schmeling dies at 99
Gott in Himmel! I had forgotten he was still alive (how many boxers live to such an age, anyway?) Lots of obits; here's one from Deutsche Welle.

I was born the night Max Schmeling defeated Joe Louis in 1936. That was one of my parents' "stories"--about how they listened to the fight while my mother labored. (I too was surprised that he was still around.)
