Election morning thoughts
Now that Election Day is finally here, I find myself wishing that I had kept an election diary this time around. Not so much a journal, but more an annotated collection of the articles read and found noteworthy over the past several months. Something to return to in future years, when reappraising (and, undoubtedly, misremembering) with benefit of hindsight.
This might be a good exercise for high school classes, albeit one whose lessons may take some years to sink in.
Post-election advice from Michael Totten: "If, by some chance, everyone you know votes for the loser it won’t mean the election was stolen. It will only show that you live in a bubble."
Not too late to take Megan McArdle's advice and bet against your candidate. It's a hedge, of course: if your side loses, you get some consolation $$$. And, as Megan notes, "if your candidate wins you're out the money you bet, but in your joy at having Saved the World From HIM, you probably won't even notice."
