Tagging ancient crosses
Ancient granite crosses which have stood on Dartmoor for centuries are being microchipped in a pioneering move to beat thieves, it emerged today. From the Scotsman, with another mention at the BBC -- which notes that "garden makeover programmes" on TV are being blamed.Dartmoor National Park Authority archaeologists are attaching tiny chips to about 200 crosses and other granite artefacts across the 365 square mile wilderness in Devon.
DNP archaeologist Jane Marchand said today there had been a growing awareness that some granite artefacts had disappeared from the moor over the years. The microchips would now enable the DNP to identify them if they turned up in sales, she said. "The whole thing came to a head when there was an attempt to steal a medieval granite cross on the open moorland".

I can see it now: the next big fad in garden makeovers...
Build your own Stonehenge. As you might know, Stonehenge is one of the oldest (4,000+ years) and best known astronomical calendar sites in the world. You can recreate it without going through the bother of lugging 25 to 50 ton slabs of rock around the neighborhood. All you'll need is a bit of ambition, and a location offering an unobstructed view of the eastern or western horizon. Locations offering a 360º horizon view are ideal (and rare).

Hello,
I have a very old pendent cross about 2.75 inches by 2 inches, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the symbles on cross or where I can see simular ones like it?
It is made out of coin silver and the markings may or may not have anything to do with the Stonehenge.
Can anyone enlighten me on any information on crosses and the Stonehenge?
Best Wishes,
Jim
