Soviet-looted Dürer panel to be returned

One panel of a 1505 altarpiece by Albrecht Dürer taken from the Kunsthalle in Bremen by Soviet soldiers to the USSR at the end of World War II is to be returned to Germany by Estonia. . .

The panel is being returned under a 1993 Estonian-German treaty on cultural cooperation. In return, the Kunsthalle in Bremen is sending between 60 to 80 drawings by Dürer to Estonia for an exhibition opening next month at the Kadriorg Museum in Tallinn.
