Passing the thousand mark
Two thousand posts, and almost simultaneously, one thousand comments. Don't know if that ratio is in any way significant, but I shall use the occasion for a tip of the hat to our most prolific commentator and link-poster, Peter Shriner.

May I join all of Cronaca's readers in saluting David for creating such a civilized digest of the Web.
And if you're curious about tipping your hat, it's a matter of history..
The "tipping" or removal of a hat is said to have originated from the same place as the military salute. Knights would lift the visor (face guard) on their helm, showing their face as a sign of respect and their empty hand as an indication they meant no harm. This tradition evolved into the modern military salute. Similarly, the removal of a helm (helmet) or other headgear indoors and as a sign of respect or reverence is said to have originated before the Dark Ages. This tradition was carried on throughout the centuries by men of arms (soldiers) and nobility, as well as their staff, servants and slaves.
A custom worthy of revival.

Monsieur le Cronaca, a favourite of mine, suffers the comments problem of his perfection - he speaketh in such a complete way there is little to say but YES.
True. Fortunately he has the visit stats to confirm his popularity (or so I presume..) plus the indirect tribute of such as me with my sticky but acknowledging fingers..
You are a pleasure sir.
