Nottingham Castle stonework accusations

Experts have accused the custodians of Nottingham Castle of failing to protect rare stonework from going missing. The city council blames a lack of funding and practical difficulties
It seems much has been left out in the open, vulnerable to theft and erosion. The full story is here.

Nottingham's medieval castle still has much of its ruins, more
especially parts of its medieval cellarage remaining below the
present Castle Green. Some parts of it were archaeologically
excavated underground back in the late 1940's,and early 1950's.
