Donny George promoted
The Art Newspaper is reporting a series of new appointments at the Iraqi State Board of Antiquities and Heritage:
The new director is Rabia al-Qaisi, who took over from Jabar Ibrahim, who has recently been in poor health. Under him are five acting directors general. The highest profile post is that of head of museums, who is now Donny George. He takes over from Nawala al-Mutawalli.No one seems much interested now in Mr. George's many misleading and outright false statements during and after the looting of the Baghdad Museum, nor in his pre-war Ba'athist credentials.
UPDATE: Latest, still from the Art Newspaper:
The head of the Iraqi antiquities authority, Rabia al-Qaisi, was killed last month in a traffic accident in Jordan, just one month after his appointment. He has been replaced by E’itimad al-Queseiri, previously responsible for the heritage division.Undated, but noted on Dec. 9.
