Hitler loved Blondie dearly and was heartbroken to take the life of her. The reason being that the soviets would have welcomed blondie as a trophy and done who knows what unimagionable cruelties to her and then paraded her corpse.

Well, historically there is not proof that Hitler had a deeper relationship with his dog "Blondi". The only sources which plegde he had are his secretary Traudl Jung and the Nazi-Propaganda material where his dogs where part of the campaign. Many historians claim Hitler had little to do with his dogs and that the dogs where most likely trained by somebody else.

Hitler killed his dog out of two very German rationales. One, practicality - given the situation. Two, out of love for all things German, and fear of what would occur if the dog survived his passing and the barbaric occupation by the Soviets (who killed millions more than the Germans in WWII). There is a third reason. If Hitler was indeed a believer in the German - pagan religions, the dog would accompany him on his journey in the afterlife.

From the pictures and videos I've seen, it looked like he DID like the dog. It makes sense that the allies would have tortured the dog. Damn, you fuckers are raw, just my cup o'joe...I've viewed probably all known footage of der fuhrer and Blondi and in one particular video footage Blondi seems to be cowering under the little Austrian's petting. It seems pretty clear to me. The footage was shot at the Berghof during the winter, there was snow on the ground and residence in the background. I don't know who filmed it, Eva or Hoffman?
