I never saw a purple bear . . .
. . . but there's one in Buenos Aires. Zoo officials there treated one of their polar bears for dermatitis -- look here at the results.
WHOOPS -- if any of you are still wandering around Buenos Aires looking for the bear, it's actually in Mendoza (thanks to the good Dr. Weevil for the correction).

Minor pedantic correction. The story is datelined Buenos Aires, but the bear is in a provincial zoo in Mendoza, way west of there in the Andes.
