Man vs horse
The annual 22-mile man versus horse race saw four legs once again triumph over two. Some 30 horses and riders lined up against nearly 400 people and 50 relay teams in the contest in Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys, mid Wales. No human running alone has yet defeated a horse in the competition and hopes a single runner would triumph over equine opponents for the first time in more than 20 years were dashed again. A never claimed prize, which increases by £1,000 every year, will stand at £25,000 for next year's race on June 12.Time to get away from the keyboard and start training. . . . From Ananova.

Make the course 150 miles an a man could win. Not
this man, but one in suitable training.

Even 50 miles would be enough to let the man win. We have such a race here in Arizona, USA, which is often won by a human runner. Of course, that may be affected by the fact that the humane society forces the rider to spell their horses for food and water, while the runners are free to do any fool thing they want to themselves. The race is over mountain trails for at least a part of the way.
