Met's Islamic galleries to close for renovation
A four-year closure is planned, while the galleries underneath are being rebuilt. The Islamic galleries have always been one of my favorite destinations at the Met, and I've never quite understood the lack of crowds there.
If you will be in New York this week, stop in -- the closure begins Monday. A number of the collection's highlights will be displayed in other galleries during the renovation.

Damn. And I was planning on getting the provost to pony up for a trip to NYC this summer on the pretext of teaching Islamic in the Spring. Not that they don't need the space.....
Have you seen any announcement of travelling shows?
