Taking Baghdad in 1941

Interesting article in the Sunday Times Review, titled How we took Baghdad, by the Duke of Wellington.
A bit long to excerpt, but the Duke thinks little of the problems of heat, inasmuch as his attack on Baghdad was in May when it was 134F in the shade, and his men managed to do their job with much more primitive tools and facilities. Apparently most Iraqi resistance back then folded immediately in the face of serious attack, even when the forces were not heavily imbalanced. Not surprisingly, the Duke does not think much of the French, but for him it's also rather a family matter. . . .

UPDATE: Here's a summary of the British conquest of Iraq in 1941, from StrategyPage.
