Archimedes Palimpsest shows unexpected sophistication of Greek mathematics

A close reading of the manuscript known as the Archimedes Palimpsest has revealed that ancient Greek mathematics had a firm grasp of the concept of infinity. Whether this also indicates that calculus had been developed in the ancient world remains to be seen. . .
